Meechgalanne would always talk about the 4 Sacred Directions as living entities. He would speak of them with great reverence and great wisdom. The foundation roots system the Ways Of The Wild Institute feeds and is nurtured by these 4 Sacred Directions of North, East, South and West.

The East is the element air and the color yellow. Spring is the east’s season and childhood is the time in the life cycle.

East is for new beginnings and it is as simple as that. It is the time for explosive energy and returning light after the long dark. All receive new life to run with and expand their energies into the realms of life. It is here in the Sacred Direction of East that the mind and metal aspects of life dwell and so our courses for East delve into the philosophy of the wild and wilderness living.
