What is January?
What is January? Most people are of course familiar with the months as they are termed and placed within the calendar, but really what is behind the name “January” and more importantly what is the frequency of January?
That is what I will explain here, the energy meaning of January. This comes directly out of my Native American childhood teachings. They of course did not term this time of the year “January”, but rather named each moon of the year. Thirteen moons come around in each full year, unlike the 12 months of today’s common calendar. This is why we end up having what is called the “Blue Moon”. A “Blue Moon” is nothing more than the 12 month calendar playing catch up with the thirteen moon annual cycle.
It is a well known fact the each native tribe of the North American continent named each moon something different than the others. This had to do with their specific environmental placement upon the land and what was naturally occurring during that particular time of year. January may have been named the Snow Moon by one tribe and Frost Moon by another.
Back to the energy meaning of January… Let us first look at the month prior, December. What happens in December in the environment? Well for one the days shorten and the nights grow longer with darkness. The days and nights also get colder and colder. Snow falls in many areas and ice forms on the waters. The shortest day of the year occurs near the 21st of the month. The energy of the human body sinks downward and takes its place within the core of the system where it remains until spring. The kidneys hold the energy of winter. December is the time when we must pay particular attention to our kidney energy.
Of course what do the kidneys represent? They control water in the body and so are associated with the element water. Water is also connected directly to emotions. Fear is the main emotion of the kidneys and so many lessons of the kidneys revolve around our deepest emotional fears.
That being said, December is the month when the energy of the body goes deep within, like the bear that goes into the den to sleep for the long winter. There within we are faced with our darkness and the coldness in order to allow us to take our seat within the depths of our self for winter. It is the moon and month where we retreat from the external and move into the core of our self.
What happens in the month of January? The light begins to return, but ironically it gets colder and colder as it gets lighter and lighter. It is much like dawn which many times holds the coldest part of the night just as the sun is rising. It is getting lighter, but the temperature drops. What does this mean about the energy of January? It means that after the long dark of December that forced us to go within, we now begin to see the light inside us rising. This is the inner light of self, hope and higher connections that guide us from within. The cold keeps our energy deep but with the growing light we can see more clearly who and what we are; what we need to do and how to go about doing it.
What else happens in January? In many areas, like here in the mountains of Vermont, snow falls heavily and blankets the earth. Snow is a symbol of purification. It reminds us of the purity given to us from the highest aspects of our self falling upon our physical being. January is a time of self purification, deep level insights, guidance and clarity of pathways before us. It is a time to look patiently with the light of you, at yourself, for yourself and nurture yourself for the events of the coming year.
This is January and it is now. Work with its energy for your benefit for the year unfolding before us. This is also a great time to work with animal energy within and your Totems. Are Your Ready?
When all the gifts are unwrapped and trashcans are full, when all family and friends leave and the decorations come down to be packed away for another year, how do you feel? When the holidays end and now the long winter stares back with its cold and gray fingers, how do you feel?
The modern world and controlled society set up major holidays for the crash at the end of the high. Much like a sugar rush where you ride the sugar buzz for a short time only to fall hard afterward; this is how the modern world sets up holidays. The media pumps everybody up with promises of peace, happiness, flash and glamour, satisfaction and magic galore! Everywhere you look you see advertisements of such promises.
Traditional holiday gatherings with feasts, gifts, music, singing, dancing, parties where everyone is happy and differences places aside or reconciled are what we see in the media. However, most people’s holidays do not live up to such boasts. Instead they are REAL. TV and movies show us things not real, but glorified and altered from our world of physical reality.
Who is affected by this lie the most? Children who do not yet know better. They get triggered into riding the holiday rush only to collapse afterwards in states of sadness. They do not know why the feel the way they do, only that they are saddened and depressed in a time when they are “supposed” to feel great joy. Of course many adults have no idea how to make them feel better because they themselves are also depressed at the holiday crash and the eminent return to work and “normal” life.
Year after year the cycle continues. Year after year the media feeds the falsehoods of things too great to be practically attainable by most upon this earth. Year after year companies make massive amounts of money from this disgusting hype.
The New Year comes and the next phase of this cycle is the resolutions. People try to face their lives and decided they want to make changes. Some do, but many get a few weeks or maybe months in and their “normal” life and old habits reclaim their New Year’s Resolutions.
Here at Ways Of The Wild Institute we do not hold all the answers, not even close. What do we hold is hope, truth, straightforwardness and practicality- reality. For anyone who wishes to embark on a path of fulfillment and self discovery, Ways Of The Wild Institute might just be the place to visit. Students here do not find flat, impractical skills, but rather vastly dynamic skill sets that can be utilized in any walk of life. Here people come to find themselves through practical skills. Utilizing the wilderness, natural life, basic needs and foundational truth people follow the paths they themselves set into the truth of who they are. Along those paths people awaken to who they are and what they are capable of. The sleepiness of the modern lullaby wears off and the reality of the world becomes clearer.
In the Vermont Mountains we do not set unreachable goals and are not here to get rich of the skills we teach. That is obvious by looking at the very reasonable prices for all our classes and products. You can also see this by the fact that we have no “Institute” land like many large schools. We teach in the actual wilderness areas and on State Land. We care about the students who wander our way. We care about the quality of what we teach and the integrity of our school and purpose in life. There are no pedestals nor media lies here. What you see is what you get. If you truly want hype and glamour you will not find it here. Reality is what you will find here. Reality of yourself. If you are ready to seek deeper and more vastly within yourself, through practical life and useable skills, then here in Vermont might be the place to begin or continue that path and sacred journey.
The hyped up holidays are ending and the New Year approaches. Why not make resolutions that matter and are attainable? 2012 is right around the corner. It is time to start or continue making a difference! It is time to find yourself and all you are, no more hiding, rise and stand before life with a full heart and desire for a higher state of existence! The time is now, wait no longer, life is yours, make it so!

Plant Respiration
I have had a number of people in my plant classes ask about what plants are best to have in their homes. Since I love plants my personal answer is any plant that is not poisonous to the touch! My home is filled with plants and I wish I could have more, but the light does not allow.
The question of which plants are best in your home comes down to two needs-
- Air Purification Abilities
- Oxygen Supply
Of course proper lighting, humidity and space are also key considerations for choosing correct plants to share your home with. However, the ability to purify air and increase oxygen in the home are core abilities you want to look at when choosing plants.
When we talk about how much oxygen a plant produces we have to first understand that most plants produce oxygen as well as carbon dioxide. The oxygen is actually a byproduct of photosynthesis. Photosynthesis only takes place during the day because it requires sunlight. Plants need carbon dioxide to work the task of photosynthesis. Now the interesting thing is that plants expel the byproduct oxygen through pores on the leaves, called stomata, or they use it for respiration. Remember that plants are alive as are we. They must breathe to live.
While most plants produce oxygen in the daylight, they all breathe both night and day. They require oxygen, just like us, to breathe. The byproduct of their respiration is the same as ours- carbon dioxide. Now during the daylight hours the plant uses this carbon dioxide for the act of photosynthesis!
Follow me so far? Good
So the plants are breathing oxygen, expelling oxygen, using carbon dioxide and expelling carbon dioxide almost all at the same time!
Remember there are plants that have no chlorophyll, like the Indian Pipe and so produce no oxygen because they do not act out photosynthesis.
Now let us move to air purification. Some plants are masters at purifying air by filtering out toxins. These are great plants to have in your home. The best thing is to look for plants that combine both of these great qualities. The following are a list of plants that are known for producing higher levels of oxygen at night and cleaning the air. (Great to have in your bedroom!)
- Philodendrons- specifically the heartleaf philodendron- they clean toxins out of the air and produce good quantities of nighttime oxygen!
- Cactus- most cacti, including the Christmas Cactus produce large amounts of oxygen at night and absorb large quantities of carbon dioxide!
- Aloe- another great plant with healing properties that produces good amounts of oxygen at night.
- Snake Plants- again another plant that produces more oxygen at night and filters many toxins out of the air.
- Spider Plants- these are very good air purifiers, especially for homes with new carpets and wood since they out-gas formaldehyde. Yes the spider plant filters this nasty chemical out of the air!

So go ahead and take advantage of natures own unique and highly effective oxygen makers and atmosphere cleansers inside your home! Not only do you benefit from the plants actions but you also get to see their beauty and feel their energy on a daily basis.
Please remember that some of the plants listed are poisonous if eaten by pets or children. Do your research before placing plants in your home if you have young children or pets who like to chew plant leaves.
The question & set-up…
Over the last couple years I have had many; many people from all walks of life come to me and ask me which of my learning cd’s they should buy. Right then and there I see a set up and I will tell you why. What I am telling you here is not based upon a guess but a fact that I have seen time and time again.
I have over 20 learning cd’s that cover a wide variety of topics within the genera of self healing (Medicine Ways). When someone comes up to me and asks me which one I suggest they begin with I see a few things happening. The first thing I look at is fact that they have to ask me because they are not directly communicating with the highest aspect of themselves to make their own decision. This shows me that they need to work on basics because if they did indeed have a good knowledge of the basics then they would never have to ask me because they would KNOW what cd would be best for them.
The second thing I look at is how they are asking me. What state of mind are they in when they ask me?
The other thing I look at is their energy at the time they are asking me which cd would be best for them at that time in their lives.
I combine all of this information I am aware of and then offer my suggestion to them in all openness and honesty. Now what happens many times down the line after this is I get an email, phone call or hear it through someone else that the individual is unhappy with my suggestion. Everything from the cd contains too much advanced information to the cd contains too much basic information and I am beyond that… The moment they asked me for my opinion it was a set up to then later return with accusation. Of course the accusation should be and in all actuality is aimed right back at them. Why?
I read what they offered me when they asked me. Insecurity, doubt, fear to seek their higher level of self for clear answers, etc. Normally when someone asks me what cd is best for them at that time I suggest one of the lower level ones that contain solid basics. Why? Because I can clearly see that they do not have those basics solidly in their mind because if they did they would never have to ask me because they would know themselves. That is what all of my work is about- helping others figure out how to do their own work and help themselves.
If you ask me to help you choose a cd best for you and then later tell me that the cd was too basic and you are beyond that, then why did you have to ask me in the first place? Why did you not know? If you come back and tell me the information it to advanced then you are not looking as deeply as I was because if I suggested that cd then I saw your potential.
Other people say they cannot listen to my cd’s because they fall asleep or my voice is too soothing, or whatever other reason they give. The fact is you are being triggered by your programs which are preventing you from gaining the helping information on the cd’s. The programs know what information will help you heal and which will keep you in your programmed state of being.
So please step back and center yourself, ground yourself and calmly review your comments. Clearly you are not being Proactive but rather are Reacting and this should be your first clue that you need to reassess your position of mind and emotion. I present information in a neutral format. It is up to you to decide what you need and when you need it. If you ask me then you automatically gave away your own power. And trust me when I saw that I do not want your power and would rather you keep it and use it wisely. It is yours from the universe just as mine is mine. I am here to help but I am not here to do your work for you. Trust me when I say I have plenty of my own to do.
Amazing bear feats!
I recently posted a blog on the need for the human body to stay active throughout all physical life and what occurs to the body if this is not the case. That brings up a question about large creatures that go dormant for many months of the year. In this case bears during winter. How is it the mighty bear goes to sleep for many months, does not eat or drink and can rise in spring with no muscle or bone deterioration and walk to the top of surrounding mountains? If we tried that feat we would freeze to death firstly because we continue to urinate. If we did not freeze we would die of dehydration quickly because we continue to urinate. Even if we could sleep for months without dying from freezing or dehydration our muscle mass would deteriorate, our tendons would shrink and our skin would have “bedsores”.
Let us say we could for hypothetical purposes turn off our kidney functions so we would not dehydrate. What would happen? Urea, which is simple metabolic waste, removes excess nitrogen from our body through urine. Urea is produced mainly from the digestion of proteins. If we could shut off the kidneys and stop urination the urea would build up in our blood and poison us to death.
So how does the bear do this amazing feat every year? The bear does not eat, does not drink and does not urinate all winter! Yet it loses no muscle mass, gets no skin sores, does not freeze to death, does not dehydrate and does not die from starvation.
Well first the bear packs on massive amounts of fat which its body feeds off of all winter while it sleeps. This is why it does not starve. That is the first key. The bear’s body metabolizes mainly FAT, not protein to survive the winters nap. This means that their system does not build up excess urea. Non-toxic creatine is produced from the miniscule amounts of urea they do produce. The amazing thing about the nitrogen that is produced in the bear’s body is that their system turns it into protein which is then used by the muscles! Thus no muscle loss with extended sleep! So why don’t they have to urinate? Well to answer that we must ask why we urinate. The body must urinate to flush out toxins from the system. Well if there are no toxins and no intake of fluids then there is no reason to urinate. This is why the bear does not urinate all winter. Another interesting fact is that by winters end the bear’s cholesterol is about twice that of the average humans! Even with that the bear suffers not ill effects.
Absolutely amazing how life adapts to the extremes. This should be a lesson to us all that we can all learn to adapt to anything and everything that comes our way. Another year is on its way out and a new year comes quickly on. What does this New Year hold for the world and for you personally? Who can tell? All anyone can do is speculate. It’s much like predicting the weather these days. Since the global weather is constantly being manipulated by chemicals and weather manipulation technology it has become extremely hard to predict weather patterns. Even the animals, who I watch all the time, are finding it hard to predict what they once could easily tell. Squirrels are freezing to death because they miscalculated food and nesting preparations based upon the patterns they observed. This is just one of many, many ill effects upon the animals that I have been seeing many times over. These are definitely not isolated cases.
So as this New Year approaches and the crazy world continues to dance in the ways of modern technology, remember that we have the ability to adapt by way of utilizing our MINDS. Tranquility
The December hustle and bustle is in full swing for many people right now. For those of us in the North Country the snow covers the ground, cold winds speed across mountains on their way east and the woodstove crackles with fire to warm our homes. In the southern regions the air is starting to cool down and the color brown fills the landscape. For those way down there you probably notice the foliage changing and the new birds that have retired from the wintery north bopping about your yards.
I have returned recently from New York where I taught a course on Mind Control & Programming Reality. Even though it was a great weekend and we had a wonderful turn out I was exhausted each night. My average days are filled with quietness and the subtle sounds of the mountains where I live. Unless I am teaching I have very little in the way of human voice interaction, let along the many energies from people all around me. So when I do teach large groups it is indeed great and I love doing it, but at the end I must retreat and recover from that which I am not used to. I do my inner self healing work and release everything to empty myself from the experiences. By taking the time to do this I freshen right up and regain my center, energy and focus quickly. Strolling through the wilderness also helps me to ground, center and focus.
Tranquility is a word many no longer have the energy of in their lives. As the winter holiday seasons gets closer and closer this words meaning gets farther and farther away from most. Of course this is the time people need it most! I understand that not everybody lives on a quiet mountain like me, but everyone has the mental powers to attain a state of tranquility within. Take the time for yourself to do whatever you require to gain a state of relaxation in body and mind during each and every day. Let everything go and relax into a tranquil state.
Simple things can help us regain balance of mind. Most people are unaware that the simple act of walking assists our mind regain balance and clarity. Yes, walking and especially if done in silence. Quietly walking helps our minds to recenter and our bodies to reconnect to this state of centeredness. Sometime you find that you must walk further than other days to attain the same results, but this just helps to show where you were and how much you needed the walk. It helps with circulation, respiration, joint flexibility, cell rebuilding, digestive function, muscle toning, brain stimulation and a state of inner relaxation to name a few things.
As we slip deeper into the coming holiday season of winter make sure you take the time for YOU and take a BREAK from the hustle and bustle. The season will be so much nicer if you do
I am perfect- Really??
Over the past few years I have had people come up to me and say not to worry because I was “Perfect” and that all of us are “Perfect”. This has caused me to write this little blog.
The dictionary definition of the word “Perfect” sits below-

ADJECTIVE
1. without faults: without errors, flaws, or faults
“in perfect condition”
2. complete and whole: complete and lacking nothing essential
3. excellent or ideal: excellent or ideal in every way
OK now let me address this more directly.
I have never met a person who was perfect. I certainly am not perfect. Think about it. If I were perfect I would not be in pain every day, I would not have doubts, I would not have challenges and I would then be “Perfect”. However that is not the case.
If everyone else were truly perfect then we would not have wars, we would not have suffering in this world, we would not have murders, lies, rapes, thievery, abuse, slander, pain, judgment, prejudice, dictatorships, etc. The meaning of “Perfect” is clearly stated above. It means that we have no need to change because we are perfect and flawless. We are without error and excellent in every way. If we are perfect why strive for change and why do we need challenges? Why do so many live in misery if they are “perfect”? If we are all “perfect” than why do we even exist in physical reality where so many limitations exist? Physical reality is the most limited of all levels of reality.
The fact is that none of us are “Perfect”. I strive for changes all the time. I constantly work on trying to heal on ALL levels of my reality because I realize that I am not perfect and require growth and change. Perfection needs not grow nor change because it is indeed “perfect”.
To say that we are perfect is a way to say that we do not need to do anything and therefore take no responsibility for the suffering in the world. For those who think they are perfect, what a privilege it must be. But I prefer to live in reality and take responsibility for my imperfection and utilize this simple truth to try attaining a higher state of being through growth…which perfection of course does not need.
Too Real? Not At All…
I have a big course coming up this weekend and really do not have much time to write anything, but I am going to type something up quickly anyway.
What is it I am going to peck out on the keyboard this evening? How about a one year anniversary? Sounds good to me.
This month of December marks the one year anniversary of the publication of my book Shadow Scorpion. I should say “self publication” because big money grubbing publishing houses would never publish it because of its “content”. It is too real for them. Well it is an autobiography- nonfiction book. I supposed they just do really know what that actually means. What it means is that the book was written in truth and reality, none of this fantastical fairytale stuff that fills bookshelves and Hollywood. Yes OK that fairytale stuff may be entertaining, but personally I have no time for it. Life is to complex and mine has been far too dangerous for me to get lost in some fictional bedtime story. Maybe others enjoy it and have the luxury of being able to let down their guard long enough to lose their minds in fiction. Good for them.
Some people came out and told me that my book was “too real” and that I should pull it from shelves and take out some of the reality; tone it down to make it less “real”. OK, they can watch the news day in and day out. News that is filled with war, rape, murder, abuse, ritual murders, robberies, suicides, pollution, etc, etc, but my book is “too real”?? Interesting…
The fact is that this first full year my bookand lifes reality has been available globally to the public has been quite very rewarding personally. I am not talking about money either. I am talking about something true, real and powerful deep within. I have recieved an amazing amount of emails from people around the world who have read my book stating how much they not only loved it, but how it has helped them in so many personal ways within the challenges of their own lives. Still today after a year I get emails from people thanking me for having the courage to come froward with my story- as horrible, graphic and real as it is.
That to me is far more pleasing than any check in the mail. It helps me to retain my focus in what I do with hope that my trials, pains and severe life experiences can and do help others in beneficial ways. It reminds me that I did not suffer as I have for nothing.
Have I had negative responses? Only from those who have not read my book. And at that very few. They probably work for the Central Government and are programmed to try messing with people through ignorant criticism. Well they can go take a walk because their not getting in this door.
People have asked many times if I have been harassed by the government for releasing this book and why would “they” allow this book to be sold. Truth is that yes I have been. My phone calls and emails are monitored heavily, the code on my website is tampered with and becomes a constant struggle to keep good global exposure for my school- Ways Of The Wild Institute. I am watched, watched and watched some more. They have tried to take me out a number of times before, some of which cane be found in detail within my book. Now they mainly try to suppress my livelihood through technological methods. They are also always trying to break into my energetic defenses. I must be constantly vigilant…constantly. BUT if we give up, give in and roll over, if we stop trying- they win and NOTHING in this world will change beneficially. It is tiring, tons of work and dangerous, but there is no other way. We are here and there are but three choices-
- Give in and become one of them who seek global domination
- Give up and kill yourself only to return into a more challenging situation
- Stand up and reclaim what is rightfully your- fight back if needs be, but by all means do not give in
So I convey my thanks to everyone who has assisted my story reach the world and for your ongoing support on all levels. As a matter of fact I am in such a good, but very tired mood that I am going to put my book on sale this month for a really low price…just for you
