I am not an expert on female hormones or male hormones, but I work with this 9-5 Monday through Friday, so I've picked up a lot of good information. For you ladies - I'm sure you're aware that many female cancers are Estrogen fed. One thing we're not told is that the heavier we are the more estrogen our body makes. It is NOT a guarantee that if you're estrogen dominant that you will develop female cancer, BUT if you have a family history of female cancers it will be helpful to maintain a healthy body weight. Of course this goes for all of us. When we're heavy it affects all of our systems, whether we're male or female. The other thing is to make sure your Vitamin D level is at least 55. This goes for men and women. Men with levels less than 55 are more at risk for testicular and prostate cancer and women are at more risk for breast cancer. I will emphasize, if your levels are low it does NOT mean you WILL get cancer, but you can certainly lower your risk by maintaining a level of 55 with Vitamin D. Most Americans are VERY deficient. In all testing there is such a thing as being "within range" and "optimal". Western medicine focuses on "within range" and Functional Medicine focuses on "optimal". Many times being "optimal" will take you over or even under what's considered "within range". Thanks for giving me a place to share, White Wolf. :)

Thank you Wolf for such an informative article. Well said man! I agree that there is a war on against the hormonal system of the human body- male and female. Like you said, if they can control the hormones they control us. Thanks for bringing such details to light in an educational way. I'm going to look into the herbs you wrote about and do my research!
Keep doing what you do Wolf- it's greatly appreciated!

Incredible article White Wolf! The detail you included is amazing. I shared this with all the men I know because I think the knowledge you wrote should be read by all males!
Nikki's comments were quite helpful also :-)
I too wonder if you would write an article like this, but on the female?

Thank you Nikki for your comments and advice! I'm sure readers will appreciate it :-) I will also keep those kits in mind for anyone who asks me. For those paying attention to their body its pretty easy to tell is testosterone is low, but do it yourself kits are about as easy as one can get...just like blood type testing kits you can buy in pharmacies or even places like wal-mart.
Thanks again Nikki!

Great write-up, White Wolf. I agree with everything stated here. I never told you, but I work in the field of Metabolic and Functional Medicine. You hit every point. The only suggestion I would make is that testing hormones through saliva is the most potent route. Currently, the the lab with the most accurate testing protocols is ZRT. Genova Diagnostics is another good company, but ZRT has the edge. You do not need to see a Dr. to do this testing. Many Compounding Pharmacies carry saliva kits and are happy to test you. Also, chiropractors are doing this more. If someone is interested in Bio-identical hormone replacement therapy, which makes the hormones from yams, you would need a Dr. to write a script. A compounding pharmacy would make this for you. I'm not suggesting someone do BHRT. You made GREAT suggestions on balancing hormones through healthier lifestyle choices. However, if someone does want to know what their levels are - they can check for compounding pharmacies in their area and see if they offer testing.
If someone would rather have their hormones tested via blood they can go to: www.lef.org. This company is called Life Extension and they do just about every blood panel under the sun at HUGELY discounted rates and you do not need a Dr's order. So for those of you without insurance, Life Extension is a phenomenal option. If you click the link "products" on their main page you will see the option to check out all of their blood panels.
Good article! :)

Hi White Wolf!
Interesting topic! Do you have information about what these estrogen-like compounds do in a female body? I guess they will not really be beneficial here either?
Do you also have recommendations of how to balance the female hormone system?
Thanks!

Yohimbe can be very dangerous, especially for anyone who has liver issues, kidney issues, heart issues, circulation issues and rising heat energy issues. It should be avoided. There are many other herbs that work far better!

Tonkat Ali works very well but like all herbs, it is best when combined with others. Like L-Arginine, ginseng, sarsaparilla, muira puama, etc. Maca is subtle and works more as a supportive herb in herb combinations than by itself.

Boxers, briefs, etc, etc...getting the right fit, getting natural materials, getting ones without toxic dyes... why bother at all? Unless you have some health issue where you need the extra support the male body does not require it. Social conditioning dictates that they are required, but that dictation is not based upon any medical or body logic facts and needs.

I have begun filming for webinars which will begin in August. Perhaps after my September Apprenticeship block I will do a webinar on this area of topic. It would be in October, but perhaps you are right in that many men would be interested in such a webinar...

this was a great post White Wolf ! i have some experience in this area and yet i am still naive "bigtime"

i got some Tongkat Ali and Maca from a Canadian distributor recently. he told me that PayPal have been putting pressure on him to cease selling a certain herb by stopping his PayPal Merchant account.! the TongKat Ali worked and even gave me an aggressive type feeling, the Maca i never notice really but i like it. he seems a decent bloke and even airmailed the last lot even though it costed him money himself. he loves what he does.

here is a story about what not to take:a few years ago i had a younger girlfriend and a dodgy guy i knew that owned a health store gave me some Yohimbe, Packaged in China. i had nothing wrong in "that" department but gave it a go. it worked exceptionally well but later that night my forehead felt like it was going to explode. i felt this healthstore owner was irresponsbible in that he recommended two full capsules while only one nearly drove me to the hospital. luckily i had a calming herb in my pack and that seemed to offset the Yohimbe. anyhow like an idiot i took it again a few months later and suffered again, sweated etc... never again.

i have a few more important questions on this subject but the letter would be too long, i feel a lot of men would benefit from a podcast solely dedicated to mens health, stuff they never tell men.

before i go, i wear briefs even though i was told to let it hang in boxers as it is healthier. what i wear is not that tight but the manufacturers seem to make what they are told and getting the right fit can be difficult:)
