Sedentary = Non-Survival

Do you realize that in 2003 statistics came out showing that one in three Americans over fifty years old are completely sedentary in their lives? One in three!! What does that mean? Well beyond laziness and the lack of care for self it means that the muscles in those people become resistant to insulin. Yes that is the same insulin that “normally” promotes the absorption of glucose. That means blood sugars reach a dangerously high level whenever those individual eat anything containing sugar. It is no wonder why type 2 diabetes is so elevated in America and continues to rise in growth!

The simple fact is that the human body is not designed to live a sedentary life. Under the stress of non-activity (yes non-activity ongoing produces serious stress on all aspects of the human body’s system) the body begins to deteriorate and the slow or fast slide to death gets well underway.

Even if those sedentary people got themselves in a “survival” situation their systems would be too weak to stand a chance. Anyone who has come here to Ways Of The Wild Institute in Vermont for courses and workshops know full well how physically challenging outdoor living truly is. You must be strong and healthy to survive.

To make things worse, those who fall into that sedentary lifestyle continue to eat which further poisons the organs of the body because the nutrients in the food are not needed, used or flushed through and out of the body.

Take a look at my prior blog about what is the right exercise for you. The winter holiday season is upon us along with all the rich foods and lazy feelings after gorging the digestive system. Get moving! For your health get moving! Set an example for all the kids of today who are following the lead of the sedentary adult lifestyle and becoming weaker and less healthy each year! Get up and move, keep moving and get back to and stay healthy in the process.
