Contest
This is a contest offered to anyone. There are only a couple things you need to be able to enter this contest-
- a camera that can download onto a computer
- a way to email me photos
The contest is simple enough. The rules are as follows:
- you must take individual photographs of 15 different types of mold
- the photographs must be clear, close up shots and only contain one type of mold per photo
- I need to see something in each photo that tells me you didn’t download it off the Internet. This can be something as simple as your finger tip, a penny, dime or some other small object in every photo.
- they must be photos of MOLDS. Do not show me photos of mushrooms or lichens.
- they must be taken outdoors on something naturally existing outdoors, like bark, rock, trees, soil…I don’t want photos of your moldy bread in the refrigerator or things like that.
- you need to send me the photos by email and with each photo you need to tell me what type of environment you found it in and what you found it growing on. You also need to tell me how you know it is not the same mold as the other photographs you took. Be sepcific with these answers and deails.
- the contest begins in the late afternoon of Tuesday September 14th.
- the contest ends at 7 pm on Sunday September 18th. That means I need to have all your 15 photographs of 15 different molds and the explanations as to what environment you found each in, what you found each growing on and how you know that each one is different than the other photos you took in my email box by 7 pm on September 18th. Anything submitted after 7 pm will not be looked at.
I will look at each and every submission an judge them in accordance to the above rules and overall quality of the assignment. The winner will receive my Color Awareness Cd and accompanying color chart. You check out what this 2 cd set is all about by clicking the link.
I chose this cd because molds grow in a huge variety of color and each color has specific meaning par its frequency. This is all fully described in the cd that the winner will receive.
This assignment/contest is about getting outside and getting your nose and knees in the dirt, looking closely and observing tiny details within the natural environment. You might be surprised at what you find besides mold! If you are sensitive to molds, wear a dust mask while crawling around.
For those who live in dry climates, do not despair. Many molds prefer drier climates and rely on small amounts of moisture.
So grab your cameras, go out and have fun!
The winner will be announced on the facebook Ways Of the Wild Institute page next week after all of the applications have been completely reviewed.
