Wilderness Ways- Track Pack
Length: 4 hour class
In a lot of disasters it may become necessary to leave the home. A backpack will make this trying situation better. This is why I call it a Track Pack, because you take it when you make tracks out of danger. It is key to think in minimalist terms which should be applied to all preparations to make them more achievable. It should only weigh about 10 pounds and have a minimal amount of equipment.
Here at Ways Of The Wild Institute we teach students what items to place in a Track Pack. The Track Pack is something that you can take anytime you venture out your front door. I have seen and heard many people talking about the importance of taking a Track Pack with them out of doors but here we will show you exactly what to put in it and why. During the workshop students will be able to ask detailed questions about how to utilize anything in the pack so if you ever needed it you could be successful with the tools you carry.
We teach two different Track Pack methods and each has a specific purpose. Both are covered in complete detail during this Track Pack Workshop.
Ages 8 through adult welcome. Ages 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Wilderness Ways- Natural Wilderness Navigation
Length: 5 hour class
Ever get lost in the woods? Ever wonder what you would do if you did? The skills of Natural navigation are essential to the arts of wilderness survival or wilderness living. In the mountain woodlands students learn to navigate the mazes of ridges, canyons, flatlands and deep forests without a map, compass or GPS. Compasses can be lost or broken, maps can be blown away and GPS can run out of batteries but knowledge is life long.
Students learn how to tell directions and location simply by observing the natural direction tellers of the wildlands.
Here in this workshop students learn how to tell direction, to figure out their location, how to tell direction by use of sticks, shadows, trees, plants, weather, stars, and more! Students also learn how to travel through the wilderness if they become disoriented and how to make it out on their own if needs be.
A must have skill in wilderness survival and wilderness living situations!
Ages 16 through adult welcome.
Pre-registration is required for this navigation workshop. Pre-registration requires a $45.00 non-refundable deposit. You can make your deposit here.
In winter this workshop will be done upon snowshoes. So please come prepared with snowshoes and proper winter clothing.
In the warm season please come prepared with the proper clothing as can be found on our equipment list found under the Registration page.
